5th Cogeneration Congress

The 5th Cogeneration Congress will place a strong focus on the directions of energy transition in the district heating sector, the implementation of final EU climate and energy regulations, and the consequences of the energy crisis. Organized by the Polish Association of Professional Cogeneration Plants, the event will be held from June 11-13, 2024, in Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula River.

This congress offers representatives of the district heating sector a unique opportunity to discuss the future development of this critical industry. Participants will engage in discussions on the challenges faced by heating companies in Poland, especially in the context of advanced investment and modernization projects. As in previous years, the Congress will bring together leading academics, government officials responsible for the power and heating sectors, and members of industry organizations actively involved in the electricity and heat markets in Poland.

During the Congress, the Polish Association of Professional Cogeneration Plants will unveil a groundbreaking report titled "The Potential of Power to Heat Technology in Transforming Poland's District Heating Sector."

Participants will also debate the incorporation of EU regulations, derived from the European Union's climate and energy policy, into national law. Adopting the appropriate legal solutions will enable the continued transformation and further development of the power and heating sectors in the coming decades.

"This marks the fifth Cogeneration Congress organized in Kazimierz Dolny. As always, we extend an invitation to anyone interested in discussing the future of the power and heating sectors. In June, Kazimierz Dolny will once again become the heart of the Polish debate on energy transition and the decarbonization of district heating. We are also creating a unique space for exchanging views on the prospects for cogeneration development in Poland," emphasized Mariusz Michałek, President of the Polish Association of Professional Cogeneration Plants.

During the Congress, the "Friend of Cogeneration" statuette will be awarded, recognizing individuals and institutions that have made exceptional contributions to promoting the combined production of electricity and heat. In previous years, the award has been presented to Krzysztof Tchórzewski, Minister of Energy from 2015 to 2019 (2019), Professor Waldemar Kamrat of Gdańsk University of Technology (2021), the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (2022), and the Polish Power Grid Company (2023).

The Cogeneration Congress in Kazimierz Dolny annually attracts hundreds of experts, including public administration representatives, energy company managers, and academics, who discuss the state and development prospects of the power and heating sectors.

We invite you to explore the summaries of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Cogeneration Congresses and to participate in this year's edition!
